Joel and I decided to head for the local Borders Bookstore, which is having a going out of business sale. I bought a few CD's, Joel got some books and music. It was a warm and sunny walk in the city. I picked up Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies' lead singer gone solo), Pernice Brothers, Elliott Smith, Sting, Violent Femmes, The Kooks and (no sniggering) a Toto CD.

Later, I had dinner with some friends, but Joel decided to stay home and avoid the temptation of non-Passover food (Passover ends Tuesday). Had some VERY tasty vegetarian Chinese in Philly's Chinatown. I had some non-chicken General Tao's Chicken with Brown Rice and soup, with Fried bananas for desert. It was probably good Joel skipped this, as there was way too much wheat in the non-meat.

We also watched some movies over the weekend, including "Inside Job" (Oscar winner deserved, but maddening), "Charlie Wilson's War" (Tom Hanks, terrific), "28 Weeks Later" (nihilistic and stupid) and "Triage," a very good war drama.

Sounds like a pleasant holiday weekend!

Another bookstore bites the dust - very sad.
I love hanging out at bookstores. You can't sit and read books at sites on the 'net.

I couldn't read the yellow font you'd used, so I had to highlight the font, which turned it a readable blue.

I swear, I'm not bitchin' you about it, just wanted to let you know.

*ULTRA-HUGS*

It's weird, because normally it comes out readable, and this time I had to color it to see it. Uretgh.

That's funny I bought the same Steven Page CD at Border's & The Florence and The Machine CD there for $6. Bought lots of books. Now it's funny The Sting CD "On A Winter's Night" is climbing the charts again thanks to the Borders closing(I bought it two years ago). As a matter of fact, some of the titles like Sony's Super Hits, Universal 20th Century series & BMG(also Sony) Extended series are also in this week Billboard 200. Oh well Goodbye Borders, you'll be missed(well not those expensive prices you charge on your products).

I also noticed that on the charts. It may be due also to Best Buy having a huge sale on those discs.

The Borders here hat a crapload of the Josh Groban and Sting CD, literally lining a wall with them.

I think the Sting CD was left over for the holidays and after the holidays they don't send them back or keep them for the next holiday season. Who knows. But I did enjoy "On A Winter's Night", it's a shame PBS didn't aired the special last Christmas season.
Yeah I kind of forgot about how many copies they had of Josh Grobin new CD. It must be a terrible CD because it's not climbing up the Billboard Top 200. They also had lots of copies of Susan Boyle Christmas CD and Phil Collins sixties soul album(boring) just sitting around. I love Phil but I glad he's bowing out because his voice isn't the same anymore. I also notice the Johnny Cash/Willie Nelson unplugged CD is climbing the charts too(I bought that after Johny's passing). Fine CD.
